Review – From Home by NCT
March 3, 2021
This review is about the song “From Home” by the South Korean group NCT, and about how they broke the language barrier to transmit their music worldwide. I will also discuss the music video that accompanies the song.
NCT is a very multinational group, featuring members from the US, Canada, Japan, China, Thailand, and South Korea. The group is currently composed of 23 members, but varies in numbers sometimes. NCT has had a total number of 40 members, and some day the number could be infinite. According to Kprofiles.com, NCT (엔시티), an acronym for ‘Neo Culture Technology’ and is a new boy group concept. They are managed under SM Entertainment.
The music video for From Home was made to look like a homemade film, but with very high production and editing. In it, 7 boys talk and have fun together. The lyrics are made up of different languages including Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese, and then towards the end they pause the song and thank their international fans in Spanish, English, Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Chinese. The story (lyrics) tell how they started as a small group and how NCT (the group) is now their new home, since most of them left home at an early age and had to grow up with their group-mates. I really like the camera work and the visuals of the singers in the music video.
I think that anyone who is willing to listen to something different that is not European or American would enjoy this video. Someone who is open-minded would like it because they really are voices that fill your soul with tranquility, and as strange as it may seem, the music can help you in several ways. I would give this Korean pop ballad a 10 out of 10 rating.
